Last night I participated in Relay for life. It was an amazing experience. The evening started at 4:00 pm with the set up of our fundraising booth. We sold hair bows, inspirational rubber bracelets, handmade beer/soda koozies, brownies, and fritto pies.
422 participants, 36 teams, over $102,000.00 raised. I came in 15th out of 422. MY TOTAL WAS $580.00.
The beginning of the relay started at 6:30 with the survivor lap. There were survivors of all ages it was crazy to see just how many people have or have had cancer just in our little area of town.
Following the survivor lap was the parade of teams. Each team was introduced and did one lap around the track. Our team was the Kings Cancer Crusaders.
Next was the memory lap were all the light were turned off in the gym and all the candles were lit to represent all the loved ones that have lost their lives to cancer. Each candle was a loved one from someone walking last night.
We walked from 6:30 pm until 4:30 am. It was so great to see and hear everyone's story of how they got involved with Relay for life.
At around 11:30 pm I stopped by one of the doner buses and gave blood. I have not given blood since high school and now I think I will give every chance I get.
I had a wonderful time. I got home around 5:00 am after being up for 23 hours straight. I am really tired and my feet hurt today but I am really excited to start making plans for next years RELAY FOR LIFE.
Thank you to everyone who donated money on my behalf. I really appreciate it.

That's so awesome! So proud of you - sorry we couldn't donate any money, but I will next year! I'll call you later - great time at Beth Moore.
Your hubby told me today that you did this. I am so proud of you.
What a wonderful thing to be a part of.
I did Relay for Life when my daughter Kris was sick. I went to Bremerton to be a part of her team. I still get chills and tears when I think of the Survivor walk. Sadly, one of her Chemo buddies lost her battle last week. She was about my age and would sit with Kris while they received Chemo and hold her hand and talk her through it. Tears, now typing this.
Hope you are enjoying all of the sunshine. I am about ready to follow you if it does not warm up here.
Jen I am so proud of you and how far you have come in life. You are such an amazing and caring person and I love you and everything that you do.
